Greetings From Our President - Mihee Olsen, President

Welcome to Korean American Women’s Association of the USA (KAWAUSA) website.

We are an Organization of Korean Women Married to US Citizens not of Korean decent  

The KAWAUSA was founded in 2004, to organize many regional Korean-American Women’s Associations throughout the United States into one voice.  As we all know there is strength in numbers. 

Our PURPOSE is to share information among members to promote friendship and diplomacy between Korea and the United States.  To help immigrants with their legal, financial, and social status to participating in mainstream American Culture while preserving some Traditional Korean Traits.  To help in the resolution of domestic issues for Korean-American Women in the United States, also to promote the rights and interests of Korean-American Women everywhere. 

We have been on the local levels involved in community service trying to give back many of the wonderful gifts and opportunities that this country make available to all who work for them for the last 30 + - years. This is truly a land of opportunity and we firmly believe that to keep what we have we must also give it away. 

We are open to all support and suggestions to assist us in having an impact on our local communities, between our two countries and anywhere we may be of service across the World.

안녕 하십니까? 저희 미주 한미여성회 총연합회의 웹싸이트에 오심을 진심으로 환영합니다.

본회는 국제결혼을 통해 형성된 미국내 한미여성회의 네트워크를 구축하여, 단체간의 유대를 강화하고 지속적으로 유익한 정보를 제공함으로써, 구성원들의 발전과 한미 양국의 친선및 민간 외교에 기여하고 이민자들의 정착지원과 그들의 법적, 경제적, 사회적 지위 향상을 도모하는 한편, 간국의 고유 문화를 보급하는 가운데, 미주류 사회에 참여하여 대내적으로는 한미여성들의 문제해결을 우선으로 하고, 대외적으로는 전미국에 거주하고 있는 한미 여성간의 협력체제를 공고히 하는 가운데 현실 참여 활동을 전개함으로써, 한미여성의 바른 정체성 확립과 권익을 신장하는 것을 목적으로 하는, 미주류 사회 각계 각층에서 봉사화 사회활동을 활발하게 하고있는 국제결혼여성 단체들이 하나가 되어, 2004년 6월달에 결성된 미주 총연합회입니다.

KAWAUSA - Purpose / Objective

미 주류 사회 각계 각층에서 봉사 와 사회 활동을 활발하게 하고 있는 국제결혼여성 단체들이 하나가 되어,주류 사회와의 징검다리 역할을 좀더 활성화 하고 저 2004년 6월 23일 한미여성회총연합회가 결성 되었습니다. 우리의 목적은 전세계 국제결혼여성들의 네트워크를 구축하여 회원간의 유대를 강화하고 지속적으로 유익한 정보와 문화를 교류함으로써 다문화 가정 구성원들의 정체성 확립과 구성원들의 효과적인 민간외교에 기여함에 있습니다. 앞으로 우리는 사회봉사활동과 어려운 이웃 돕기, 혼혈인 문제, 자선 활동에 더욱 앞장 설것이며, 또한 여성들의 권익옹호를 위해 미력하나마 최선을 다할것입니다. 2006년 현재 미주 14개지부를 두고있으며, 한국에서 두번의 “국제결혼여성 세계대회”를 주최하고 전세계 국제결혼여성들을 하나로 묶는 “세계 국제결혼여성 총연합회”를 발족하는데 중심역활을 하였습니다. 주요 활동으로는 사회 복지 단체 봉사활동, 다문화 가정 긍정적 인식 제고 운동, 혼혈인 차별금지 운동, 가정폭력 피해여성 상담소 및 쉘터 운영, 혼혈인 시민권 자동부여법안 미국회 통과 켐패인등을 하고있습니다.
